Many users are unhappy that the remaster of The Last of Us Part 2 looks almost the same as on PS4

After various rumors and reports, Naughty Dog has officially confirmed the release of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered. This version of the game is designed for PS5 and adds unique bonuses such as a roguelike mode and Guitar Free Play.

However, from a visual point of view, the remaster does not feature much improvement. As you can see from the comparison, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered looks almost identical to its PS4 counterpart.

Fans on Twitter are already comparing Naughty Dog’s recently unveiled remaster, arguing that it shouldn’t be called that. Judging by the two images, it’s hard to tell which one is from the PS5.

If you’re confused, the bottom image is for the PS5 version. Fans are also unable to tell the difference between the two versions, claiming that Naughty Dog added a simple color filter to the game.

Others resort to sarcasm, saying that The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is a huge step forward compared to the original game.

An in-game screenshot highlights the differences between Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part 2 and the remaster. Truly a masterpiece, this game truly deserves a remaster. I’ll gladly pay $70 of my hard earned money because Sony deserves every last penny.

The disappointment is compounded by the fact that the game already looked very good on PS4. Additionally, it was already running at 60fps on the PS5 console via backwards compatibility, making the remaster pointless for many. The announcement trailer received a lot of dislikes, for example on the IGN channel the video had 4.5 thousand likes and 15 thousand dislikes.

Considering the fact that Naughty Dog spent at least a year creating this remaster, the results look extremely disappointing. Luckily, owners of the PS4 version can upgrade to the remaster for just $10.

The Last of Us Part 1 received a similar reaction when the studio announced that a remake of the first game would be released in 2022. However, the first part was a complete remake compared to this remaster.

However, more subtle differences between the remaster and the original version will soon become apparent. The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered releases January 19th.
