Doha: Cristiano’s wife Georgina Rodríguez criticized coach Fernando Santos following Portugal’s defeat by Morocco in the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Qatar. Georgina wrote on Instagram that Santos’ decision not to include Cristiano in the starting XI was wrong and when he entered the field it was too late.
“Your friend and coach made the wrong decision today. He is someone you greatly admire and respect. That boy has seen many times how the game changes when you step onto the pitch. But today it is too late. You can never underestimate the best player in the world, his strongest weapon. Life teaches us lessons. We didn’t lose today. Instead, a lesson was learned. Great lesson,” Georgina wrote on her Instagram story alongside a photo of Cristiano.
Previously, Georgina voiced criticism after the superstar was sent off in the pre-quarters against Switzerland. Georgina wrote on Instagram that it was a shame she couldn’t enjoy the best player in the world for 90 minutes on the floor. And she also shared photos taken from the gallery during the competition.
