Jakarta –
Phenomenon flexing aka showing off wealth among millennials is now in the spotlight. Not a few people who show off this treasure are labeled with ‘crazy rich‘ by the public. However, there are also those who label those people as the rich false.
This phenomenon was also mentioned by Prof Rhenald Khasali, a professor, academic of management science, and an entrepreneur. In his opinion, people who flexing or showing off the treasure is actually a fake rich person.
“The (real) rich people buy things to be stored for a long time. Because time is very important for them. But they (fake rich people) on the other hand, buy things to show off and flexing,” said Rhenald Kasali on the Deddy Corbuzier podcast.
On another occasion, Atta Halilintar was asked for his comments to respond to this phenomenon. Initially, YouTubers with numbers subscribers the tall one was reluctant to comment much. But, he then talked about his personal experience regarding flexing or show off property.
“Wow, I don’t want to talk about people. If I have to dress according to me. So if for example I have a motorbike, I will take pictures with the motorbike. I ride a motorbike everywhere. I can afford it. So I don’t want to force it,” said Atta Halilintar.
Flexing or showing off, for Atta it is not only about wealth. According to him, when he promoted his hit album and MV it was a form of flexing.
“Flexing uh, what’s more, if it’s too much, it’s more flexing“For example, if it’s like an achievement… actually people like me, after making a film, are flexing, I make albums, video clips,” he said.
According to Aurel Hermansyah’s husband, the comments about ‘fake’ rich people are people who show off their wealth but do not own them. He also admitted that in the past, he had done this and regretted doing it.
“That’s a shame, really flexing use someone’s. It was so long ago, but it wasn’t happy. Because after people see it like that, people’s trust can go down. Go your way,” he said.
Regarding showing off wealth, Atta Halilintar admits that he is now lazy to do it and that is not his current style. Read the continuation on the following page.
