Many police in a troubled Arnhem neighborhood, some arrests

In the Geitenkamp district of Arnhem, the police arrested a few people last night for throwing fireworks. Large numbers of police were present in the neighborhood after two evenings of disturbances, including heavy fireworks. The police previously announced that seven people have been arrested since Friday evening. It is still unclear how many new arrests have been made.

Police vans lined the Goat Camp and all cars that wanted to enter the neighborhood were checked. Residents complained last weekend that the police reacted too little vigilantly to complaints.

The Arnhem mayor Marcouch then assured that there were officers in the neighborhood, but the police were much more visible last night. There were no irregularities.
