Many Players Boycott Pokemon Go, Why?

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Over the past few months, game developers Pokemon Go, Niantic, has reverted changes that were previously brought to players affected by the global pandemic.

In updateIn its latest release, Niantic removed increased interaction ranges for points of interest in the US and New Zealand. These two places previously experienced a spike in Covid-19 cases.

Change Pokemon Go focused on safety and accessibility, increasing the distance at which players can interact with Poke Stops and gyms, as well as ensuring that players are not required to leave home to obtain key items, such as Pokemon summons.

Some features such as increased duration and ranged combat remain in the game. However, quoting Kotaku, Saturday (7/8/2021), the removal of many other features has attracted the ire of the community Pokemon Go.

In his letter, community members Pokemon Go voiced his disappointment with Niantic’s decision to remove the existing changes, especially reducing the range of interaction between players.

The community argues that a wider interaction radius contributes to a way of playing that is safer, more accessible, and doesn’t require players to enter dangerous areas, cross boundaries, or block entrances.

“Some of these changes will continue to be implemented in the future, such as the ability to attack remotely, changes to the Go Battle League, and an increase in the distance at which you can play Photo Discs in gyms and Poke Stops,” the community said in its letter.
