Many of the shells and diesel in Ukraine were Bulgarian

Without directly exporting weapons to Ukraine, Bulgaria has helped this country a lot in defending itself from Russian aggression, it became clear from the statement of the co-chairman of “We continue the change” and former prime minister Kiril Petkov to TV1.

“President Zelensky thanked our government a lot, in the last days of the cabinet (of Petkov, note ed.) I received a personal call from him. And he said: Bulgaria was a fundamental force in supporting Ukraine at very important moments of the war, especially at the beginning,” said the former prime minister.

Petkov emphasized the importance of the ammunition and fuel produced in Bulgaria, which went to Ukraine: “A large part of the diesel in Ukraine actually came from Bulgaria. Also, although there was no direct export, through Poland, Romania, the USA and Great Britain, a large part of the shells in Ukraine were of Bulgarian production. Yes, we can’t say we got them out there, but the supplies that went there were key to the war.”

“If a large percentage – up to 40% – of the diesel in Ukraine is of Bulgarian production, we have also helped Ukraine, because they cannot wage this war without fuel”, pointed out Kiril Petkov.
