Below we review the most important privacy features of WhatsApp on Android phones, according to “indiatoday”, which come by default when installed and are available to all users.

How to change WhatsApp privacy settings on Android phones:

  • First step: Open WhatsApp application on your Android phone.
  • Step two: Click on the three dots in the upper left corner of the screen for more options.
  • Third Step: From the drop-down menu, click on the Settings option.
  • Fourth Step: From the new page, click on the Settings option, then Privacy.
  • Fifth Step: You can choose from the following settings to set your privacy options, between:
  1. Last seen: Bear in mind that you have set the privacy settings for the “Last seen” feature in your account to the “Nobody” option, so you will not be able to see the last time other users viewed it.
  2. Read notifications: They are the check marks that appear next to every message you send in blue to indicate that the recipient has read it. If you turn off the Enable button next to the Read indicators option, you won’t be able to see if your message you sent has been read or not.
  3. Status privacy: Each WhatsApp contact can change the settings as per their convenience, so if you turn off the reading indicators, you will not be able to know if your contacts have seen your status updates.
