The effect of the coronavirus outbreak and the firm government measures has not yet worn off on Hollywood. Despite the fact that the necessary blockbusters are again showing very reasonable figures at the worldwide box office, Disney is forced to postpone many of the biggest releases again. The most delay is for Indiana Jones 5. Ever announced for the 19 July 2019 is the new film from director James Mangold (Ford v. Ferrari, Logan) now scheduled for June 30, 2023.
In the past period, the production of Lucasfilm was on July 29, 2022 and before that also on July 9, 2021 and July 10, 2020. The reason probably has everything to do with the fact that protagonist Harrison Ford has suffered a serious injury and still does not appear to be fit.
Postponement for the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Also, several films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been postponed. All films scheduled for 2022 and beyond have been pushed back by a release date. Below is an overview of the shifted films:
– Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness from March 25 to May 6, 2022
– Thor: Love and Thunder from May 6 to July 8, 2022
– Black Panther: Wakanda Forever from July 29 to November 11, 2022
– The Marvels from November 11, 2022 to February 17, 2023
– Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania from February 17, 2023 to July 28, 2023
New dates have also been announced for October 11, 2023 and November 3, 2023, while October 6, 2023 has been scrapped. What consequences there might be for the Marvel series on Disney+ is unknown and there may also be something to happen for the related Marvel films from Sony Pictures, such as Spider-Man: No Way Home.
