Around 130 of the more than 190 people who have been evacuated from Gaza to Norway do not have a home or residential address in Norway.
Now the Palestine Committee demands that the authorities find housing for the evacuees, writes The class struggle.
On Saturday 18 November, the first plane with evacuees from Gaza landed at Gardermoen. Two days later, a new plane landed, and altogether more than 190 Norwegian citizens, or people with close connections to Norway, are now back in the country. 91 of them are children.
However, almost 130 of the evacuees do not have a place to live in Norway. This was mapped by the Norwegian authorities in Cairo in Egypt before they traveled to Norway, according to Gunnhild Grimstad-Kirkeby, municipal director in Ullensaker municipality.
Line Khateeb, leader of the Palestine Committee, believes the evacuees must be helped to find a place to live.
– The Norwegian citizens without a place of residence must be helped to find housing and have the costs of living covered. They have no funds here. They receive poor follow-up, says Khateeb to Klassekampen.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare states that the evacuees from Gaza will be looked after by their home municipalities.
When asked how to deal with those who do not have a home, the ministry states that the responsibility mainly lies with the municipalities, which, according to the ministry, are well prepared to deal with those who arrive. The evacuees will be helped to find the relevant municipality and be put in contact with the municipality.
