Many European Countries Say Goodbye to COVID-19

Jakarta

European countries are busy lifting restrictions on COVID-19 even though Corona cases are on the rise. Recently, Switzerland followed France and Denmark which first relaxed their restrictions.

In these countries, the use of masks outdoors is no longer mandatory and large events and public places are not limited to a certain capacity. While these countries are still registering a spike in cases, high vaccination rates prevent major stresses on their health systems.

Denmark had previously announced that it would remove most of its pandemic restrictions as COVID-19 is no longer a ‘socially critical cause of disease’.

Quoted from the page Euro NewsGermany is currently considering catching up with its neighbors and will make its vaccination policy mandatory for all citizens. Spain is also monitoring developments on COVID-19 to decide whether it will be treated like the seasonal flu.

However, the World Health Organization (WHO) warns that it is too early to declare victory over COVID-19. Not to mention they recorded there were 12 million new COVID-19 cases in Europe, the highest weekly total during the pandemic.

“More transmissions mean more deaths,” Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told a news conference.

“We are concerned that the narrative has prevailed in some countries that due to the vaccine and the high transmission rate of Omicron, and its lower severity, preventing transmission is no longer possible,” he added.
