Many duels and melee matches – win for the Czech Republic

On a slightly water-covered plane, Scotland-Czech Republic lined up for an exciting European Championship meeting in Glasgow.

The match started immediately with many close fights and tough times. Scotland – who had a home ground – did not give up but played physically from the start.

The first 15 minutes the teams seemed to know each other and the game was careful. It was the Czech Republic who would get the first chance, but the shot went a meter over.

Just two minutes later, Andy Robertson put a good post to Lyndon Dykes. The striker finished distinctly with his right foot but the ball went just outside the post.

The situation after Scottish Ryan Christie dribbled his way through the Czech defense. Unfortunately for Scotland, he was stopped by his own teammate Stephen O’Donnell, who stood in the way before the shot could come.

At the end of the first half, the Czech Republic played, among others through Jakub Jankto, among others. Scotland continued to make it difficult and pushed back the attack.

Andy Robertson was involved in most of the offensive for the Scots. With 31 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending. However, the goalkeeper pushed the ball to the corner.

Just before the first half would go in at half time, the Czech Republic scored. Vladimir Coufal hit a perfect post to striker Patrik Schick who nodded the ball nicely into goal.

Shortly afterwards, the Scots appealed for a penalty after Scott McTominay went deep into the penalty area. But the judge acquitted.

When the second half began, it was the Czech Republic who took command. Jakub Jankto continued to impress with his ball.

Scotland then woke up from hibernation. Twice the Scots played the ball and were close to getting it into goal, then came the cold shower.

Scottish goalkeeper David Marshall was outside his own penalty area when Patrik Schick, who had already scored a goal, got the ball donated in the middle of the pitch in the 52nd minute. The striker struck with a dream goal that sailed over the unfortunate goalkeeper.

Thus, it was 0-2 to the Czech Republic and a stable lead was a fact.

The rest of the second half Scotland tried to reduce – but without results despite countless goal chances. The Czech Republic resisted and won the match.

The Czech Republic thus took three points in Group D, which also includes England and Croatia.
