JAKARTAKOMPAS.com – Since the commencement of the investigation process on March 30, 2022 until today, the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) has sent 37 calls to various parties related to allegations of unfair business competition related to cooking oil marketing.
These parties include manufacturers, packaging companies, distributors, two associations, governments, and consumer agencies.
KPPU’s Director of Investigation Gopprera Panggabean revealed, from a number of calls to producers, only 4 producers attended to fulfill the KPPU’s summons, namely PT Multi Nabati Sulawesi, PT Agro Makmur Raya, PT PMI, and PT Permata Hijau Sawit.

KPPU also sent 3 second summons to parties deemed uncooperative in the investigation, namely PT Energi Unggul Persada (packaging company), PT Asianagro Agungjaya (producer), and PT Sinar Alam Permai (producer).
“In the event that the parties fail to comply with KPPU’s summons for a maximum of 3 summons, KPPU may submit the refusal to be examined to investigators for investigation in accordance with applicable regulations. Furthermore, in accordance with the formal cooperation between KPPU and the Police, KPPU may also request the assistance of the National Police Investigator to bring the parties together,” said Goppera in a press release, Friday (22/4/2022).

Several other producers did not attend the summons, namely PT Sari Dumai Sejati, PT Nagamas Palmoil Lestari and PT Nubika Jaya. However, PT Nagamas Palmoil Lestari and PT Nubika Jaya have been rescheduled and will be investigated next week.
Several other producers will also be investigated next week, namely PT IP, PT Nagamas Palmoil Lestari, PT Sinar Alam Permai, PT Asianagro Agungjaya, PT SON and PT AIP.
For information, KPPU has started to investigate the case of cooking oil through register number No. 03-16/DH/KPPU.LID.I/III/2022 concerning Alleged Violations of Law No. 5 of 1999 (Law 5/99) regarding the Production and Marketing of Cooking Oil in Indonesia since March 30.
This investigation will continue for the next 60 days with the agenda of requesting statements from the reported parties, witnesses, and experts as well as requesting letters and or documents needed. The investigation was carried out on three alleged violation articles. Namely article 5 (fixing prices), article 11 (cartels), and article 19 letter “c” (mastery of the market through restrictions on the circulation of goods/services).
“Therefore, KPPU again asks the parties related to the investigation process to be cooperative in responding to the summons and not refuse to be investigated, or refuse to provide the necessary information, or hinder the existing investigation process,” said Gopprera.
