Many blood clots found in the brain capillaries of coronavirus victims

A study of the blood vessels of people who died from the coronavirus showed that there are many microthrombi in the capillaries of the elderly. It was because of them that insufficient oxygen entered the patients’ brains. Such information is given by American scientists in an article in the scientific journal JAMA Neurology.

“We studied samples of nervous tissue and blood vessels of five people who died from COVID-19 and experienced serious disturbances in the work of consciousness. Their capillaries showed traces of chronic lack of oxygen and many megakaryocytes – cells that are responsible for the production of” building materials “for blood clots,” shared scientists.

They also pointed out that the new type of virus SARS-CoV-2 infects not only cells in the lungs, but also inside the nasal mucosa, esophagus, blood vessels and heart.

The infected lose their sense of smell, their intestines begin to work poorly. If the brain is attacked by a virus, then the person has a clouding of consciousness, impairment of memory and intellectual abilities.

The exact cause of the formation of blood clots due to the virus has not yet been established.
