Alcohol and drugs in the blood, a loaded pistol in the car and no driver’s license for years: for these reasons, a driver in Porta Westfalica tried to escape from the police. That didn’t work out. The list of violations grew even longer after his arrest.
What happened?
The 32-year-old caused a traffic accident in his car on the Portabrücke in Porta Westfalica early on Saturday evening and then fled from the scene of the accident. Several witnesses saw how the man from Porta Westfalica got off the road when turning from the B482 onto the Portabrücke and ran over a traffic light mast and a traffic sign. Without stopping, the Fiat driver continued his journey and parked his car about 400 meters away in the street “Unterm Willem”.
These same witnesses immediately informed the police. Thus, the fugitive could be picked up in the immediate vicinity of his vehicle. During the arrest, the driver resisted and tried to give a law enforcement officer a head-butt. Due to the influence of alcohol and drugs, a blood sample was taken from the porter at the Minden police station. During the search of the badly damaged car, the officers found a loaded gas pistol. The pistol and the car were seized.
The man’s license had been withdrawn several years ago. The 32-year-old is now expecting several preliminary investigations. The traffic light could only be poorly repaired and will fail until it has been completely repaired. The property damage is estimated at 30,000 euros.
