Seville, Jul 6 (EFE).- The renewal of Manuel Pellegrini until 2026 did not seem to be in the emergency folder as the Chilean has a contract for two more seasons and yes, on the contrary, it sends a clear message to whoever wants to receive it that Betis has entrusted, even more if possible, the keys to the house to the one who has turned the phrase ‘whatever Don Manuel says’, coined in the all-encompassing and eccentric power of former president Ruiz de Lopera.
The Betic expedition was leaving for its concentration in Wolfsburg when the verdiblanca entity, in that new ticker on social networks, sent a ‘you didn’t see this coming’, referring to the fact that, beyond the bickering of inputs and outputs, Betis had already discussed everything with Pellegrini and that he was going to Germany with the planning done: his is not a nickname, he is a civil engineer from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and a native Cartesian.
It will be a matter of time, but the fact that the Chilean has expanded his relationship with the Betis entity is a boost to who, at sixty-nine years old and with three seasons at Betis, has given his rigorous and calm stamp to a team that he it has qualified for the third consecutive time and the first time in its history for the Europa League, and to which it has given a Copa del Rey title.
The ‘what Don Manuel says’ of blind trust although with folkloric overtones from the time of Ruiz de Lopera has become solid in the case of Pellegrini, who, if there were any, has dispelled any doubts about the primacy of the coach or of the sports management, in which Ramón Planes has replaced Antonio Cordón.
Both have agreed on the harmony between sports management and coach, so much so that Betis’s first moves in Pellegrini’s fourth season have been to strengthen the foundations of the Verdiblanco building with the renewal of two heavyweights from the squad, Chilean goalkeeper Claudio Bravo and Mexican midfielder Andrés Guardado, who inherits the armband from captain Joaquín Sánchez.
The message was also clear in the sense that they were first betting on the continuity of two veteran footballers, the 40-year-old Chilean and the close-to-37-year-old Mexican, Pellegrini’s most trusted on the pitch and because of his ancestry in the locker room ; and then came the even clearer statement that the entity is doing it for a project of at least six years, an imprint and a calm way of doing things.
Manuel Pellegrini, for his part, has opted for issues that go beyond the siren songs of Arab football and dizzying figures that have been echoed by the media before the Santiago coach has preferred the solidity of a project football and life in Seville after more than thirty-five years in the profession.
Although there were doomsayers who predicted, certainly unwisely, that Pellegrini would come to Betis to take a nap, the Chilean has only ratified, with his level of demand, Cartesianism and style, his work of more than three decades in clubs like Universidad de Chile , San Lorenzo and River Plate, Villarreal, Real Madrid, Málaga, Manchester City and West Ham, and the Chinese Hebei Fortune before landing at Villamarín.
In the league epilogue against Valencia, the coach denied rumors of the end of the cycle that he has now ratified with his contract extension and decisions such as those adopted with Bravo and Guardado, and the future contracting of striker Ayoze Pérez after his transfer from last season from English Leicester.
Manuel Pellegrini has been the great supporter of Ayoze, who, in the absence of official confirmation, has renewed for four seasons with Betis, knowing the confidence that the Santiago coach has placed in him, who put him on since he arrived and who gave him the shirt starting in most of the twenty-one games in which he lined up.
Manuel Pellegrini Ripamonti will begin his fourth project at Betis this Thursday on German soil and, together with his faithful Rubén Cousillas, to make some footballers sweat who already know who is the master of the keys of a club in which he has rescued and endowed of antagonistic sense the ‘what Don Manuel says’.
