Manuel Carrara enters the official album sales chart in Spain occupying number 1 with his ninth album «heart and arrow«. The singer-songwriter adds this accolade to his list of awards, which reflects the great reception among his fans. A successful release week that promises a great journey for this very innovative and personal album.
Manuel Carrasco’s new work, “heart and arrow”, the week of its release dressed the streets of the renowned Madrid neighborhood of “Las Letras” with shop windows covered with the lyrics of the songs that make up this album. This album full of contrasts and musical styles, where the supreme quality is the reflection of courageous and sincere work, was presented in an immersive space with the special collaboration of Spotify, where fans of the artist were able to enter the “Heart and Arrow” universe for the first time through electrodermal listening.
It is clear that it is increasingly difficult to achieve true intimacy. In a world where everything is consumed even before existing, where the present devours the real possibility of an encounter.
In this world that we are building, however, we still have the possibility of records. That space where you have to stop and listen to what others sing to us. We write (and sing) so that things don’t disappear completely, to give them a name in others, so that they remain in other places that aren’t just inside you.
Listening to a record is, in essence, an act of shared solitude because you have to allow silence so that another person who is not you can settle in your thoughts, you have to be able to not be you and be a little more other. You have to let them pass through you. Only those who show themselves, those who show themselves vulnerable can be hurt, but also loved. There is no other way. That’s what the new record does “Heart and Arrow” from Manuel Carrara: to pierce you I offer you a heart. And this is not common.
This has to do with a kind of honesty, with a shining truth, with escaping from impostures and returning to the beginning to look at it with pride. The only way to build the future is to accept our past. Yes, this heart of Manuel’s has roots, it’s a puzzle of roots, like all of them, made up of those little stories that end up shaping our history.
Here is the distance, there are breaks, there is the future, there is the landscape, the neighbourhood, there is the sea, there are fears, there is the minimum and the universal, there is a man who sails against the current, who remains faithful, who refuses to give up his sensitivity. A man who does not conform is always a man committed to freedom.
It is clear that it is increasingly difficult to coincide. That doing so is fortunate. Manuel provides us with that luck: that of pulling out the arrows of life, healing our wounds and continuing.
