Prior to the local elections in March 2019, immediately after the announcement of Mansur Yavaş’s candidacy for Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, the charges against Yavaş were brought to the agenda.

The allegations were brought up on the eve of the election. An indictment was prepared against Mansur Yavaş on the grounds that “abuse of duty”, “disturbing his peace and tranquility” by sending a message to Necmettin Kesgin’s phone. It turned out that Necmettin Kesgin, who was described as a “very respected person” by AKP members in that period, was sentenced to 11 years in prison for the charges against him, among which he committed the crime of “child pornography”.
Speaking to Saygı Öztürk from Sözcü, Yavaş said the following after her acquittal decision:
I have always said on every platform that the pre-election accusations against me were slanders. The Ministry of Justice has been charged with an indictment in order to bring the file, for which there is no prosecution decision, to the agenda, and harm me. They also wanted to use this politically. In the end, the truth got its place and the slander collapsed.
WHY IS NOT CAUGHT?
The person who slandered me has not been arrested for 7 months, although he was sentenced to 11 years in prison and a warrant was issued for him. It was determined by the court that the counterfeit bill was given to me by the defendant. He was sentenced to 4 years for forged deed. He was sentenced to 1 year and 3 months for unauthorized audio and video recording and 1 year and 3 months for blackmail. Moreover, all of the decisions were upheld.
