At the New York Mets, no need to tell you that things are not going very well. The Queens team can’t seem to find consistency in order to win games and provide offensive support to pitchers.
That’s why the club’s batting coaches took the hit… whether positional players like it or not.
In fact, whether it means a return to the life of Francisco Lindor, new teachers or some addition, the Mets will have to be shocked. It remains to be seen what could do the job …
Manny Ramirez, for his part, has his own idea on the matter. He believes he can be the Mets’ solution.
In his tweet, Ramirez says he would like to offer his services to the Mets. History does not say if he is as a hitter or as a batting coach. On the one hand, we say to ourselves that it is time, at 48, to prepare for his post-career, he who has not played in the Majors since 2011.
And a coaching role has already been in the plans for the former Red Sox.
But on the other, we know he still wants to play. Again last year, he resurfaced in Australia in an attempt to play despite his advanced age. The results weren’t incredible.
If it wasn’t for a joke, the Mets would do well to ask him to play a coaching role. After all, even though he was still capable of hitting last year, that doesn’t mean he’s a good option for the Mets – on the contrary.
It remains to be seen what the Mets will do with this offer. The answer is probably to ignore it.
