In less than six seasons, Manny Machado has already become a part of the history of the San Diego Padres.
Indeed, Friday was a glorious day for the star Dominican third baseman, courtesy of the two home runs and three RBIs with which he led the religious team to a 5-1 victory over the San Francisco Giants.

These connections meant, in addition to contributing to the Padres’ aforementioned victory, a milestone within the franchise itself. Machado not only reached 25 home runs in 2024 and 338 for life in MLB; he also reached Nate Colbert’s 163 four-base hits for San Diego, a lifetime record in the organization in question.
“It’s an honor. Every time you are part of history, it’s special.”the six-time All Star told lasmayores.com. “Just being there with the names that are there, it’s a blessing.”
Manny has been a member of the Southern California team since 2019, when he signed as a free agent. In 2023, the two-time Gold Glove winner agreed to an 11-year, $350 million extension, ensuring that he will continue with the Padres, unless he is traded or hangs up his hooks, until 2033, when he will be 40 years old.
Colbert, for his part, was a first baseman and outfielder who represented San Diego between 1969 and 1974, highlighting his 38 home runs in both 1970 and 1972.
