On Wednesday, in the 1st round in Dallas, Adrian Mannarino got away against Steve Johnson in three sets and will see the 2nd round of the ATP tournament.
Adrian Mannarino has some work to do. Leading a run to nothing on Wednesday night for his entry into contention in Dallas, the Frenchman worked to overthrow Steve Johnson in three sets (6-7, 6-2, 7-6) and 2h27 of play. Largely dominated to start in the decisive game by the American (7-2) and therefore with his back to the wall, the current world No. 57 then showed a completely different face to return to the tie by taking advantage of a drop in speed of his opponent. Broken twice on his four serves, the Californian then did not see the light of day and could only see the damage. In the last round, Mannarino and Johnson tied again and once again had to split in a tie-break. At that little game, the Frenchman learned his lessons well and took revenge with a scathing 7-2 at the finish. Largely defeated last week in the quarter-finals in Montpellier by Alexandre Zverev, the Parisian was able to bounce back this Wednesday in Texas. Qualified for the 2nd round, he now has an appointment with the Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka. For their part, Marcos Giron and Jordan Thompson are already in the quarterfinals. Having fallen to Liam Broady (3-6, 6-3, 6-1) and Brandon Nakashima (7-5, 7-6) respectively, the American and Australian can rest for the moment, before perhaps crossing two seeds, namely Taylor Fritz for the first and Jenson Brooksby for the second.
