The Russian singer of Tajik origin Manizha, representing Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest, explained in an interview with Western journalists why she considers herself a Russian woman.
The artist said that she has recently faced criticism due to the origin and content of the song Russian Woman, with which she will go to Rotterdam in mid-May. According to her, due to such pressure, she was on the verge of stress, but she was saved by young fans.
“I have a certain message that I intend to convey to the end with the help of my song,” – quotes the words of the singer The Guardian. Manija added that fans should see that the artist has not backed down from his principles.
Manizha also explained that the lyrics of the song, which caused a mixed reaction in Russian society, are written with humor and reflect some stereotypes from the life of a Russian woman.
