Manipur Government’s Deadline: Surrender Illegal Weapons Within 15 Days or Face Severe Action

Imphal: The Manipur government has directed the people to return illegally held weapons within 15 days. The government has warned that severe action will be taken if the weapons are not returned after 15 days. According to a press release issued by Chief Minister Biren Singh’s office, central and state security officials will conduct strict checks across the state if the weapons are not surrendered.

It has also been clarified that the persons in possession of weapons will be dealt with legally. The government also requested the people to cooperate with the central and state governments to restore peace and normalcy in the state.

Meanwhile, a special court granted bail to five persons who were caught with weapons in Manipur. The bail comes after weeks of protests in Imphal demanding the release of those arrested. The court ordered the accused to post a bond of Rs 50,000 and cooperate with the investigation. The court has made it clear that one should not leave Manipur without permission and not influence the witnesses.
