“Manila Airport Authority Begins Electrical Audit of NAIA Terminal 3 After Power Outage”

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) has recently started an electrical audit of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 to ensure a reliable and resilient power system following a power outage that resulted in numerous flight delays. The audit is being conducted with the assistance of power distributor Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) and is expected to take approximately three weeks. Once completed, the MIAA will determine the necessary upgrades, rehabilitation, and procurement of critical components required to upgrade the terminal’s power systems. The agency may need to purchase or lease additional generators for backup power and is currently discussing the matter with stakeholder concerns. Leasing generator sets is an “immediate move,” according to the MIAA, to increase the capacity of Terminal 3’s backup power.
