Manichitrathashar is a 1993 film directed by Faasil. Written by Madhu Muttam, this film is considered to be the best psychological horror thriller in Malayalam.

31 years after the release of Manichitrathar, he was released again. Now the Facebook post shared by Kalavoor Ravikumar about this movie is famous. His Facebook post says that the real illness is not Ganga but Nakulan.

Kalavoor Ravikumar says that Nakulan is not very interested in sex, so the story of the film revolves around Ganga’s desire for Mahadeva next door. According to Ravikumar’s post, he told screenwriter Madhu Mutta about this and his response was that someone has recognized as clever as him.

As soon as I saw Manichitrathar in the past, I remembered that it was Nakulan who was really sick, not Ganga, and that Nakulan was a eunuch, and he went to see the screenwriter Madhu Mutta to confirm it, and that interview was given. with a silver star. Now it has relevance. At that time I was a journalist instructor at Kerala Kaumudi in Thiruvananthapuram. Vellinakshatra tells editor Prasad Laxman as soon as he sees Manichitrathar – Nakulan is not really a man interested in sex. So, the story of the movie is about the love that Ganga feels for Mahadev in the next house.

Prasad Laxman did not disappoint me. Why do you feel that way? I got suspicious when I heard the song starting with ‘Varuvanillarum’ in the movie. Only this song is written by musician Manichithrathazhar. The screenplay is written by Madhu Mutta. Why did the reporter want to do that? It seemed to be the same story that he had hidden in the movie. The song says, ‘Nobody’s coming but I’m leaning on the door waiting’. Even if no one comes into Ganga’s life married, they are waiting. The reason can be seen in the song.

In the song, Ganga laments that I am a flowerless mangombo. Perhaps the fact that they were not born is what is called Madhu Muttam with the expression ‘mango unblossomed’. The names of the characters seemed to be another clue. Should Ganga join Nakula, which means one without clan? To Shiva? Isn’t Mahadeva another name of Lord Shiva? And the relationship between Shiva and Ganga is not sacred. Doesn’t Shiva hide Ganga in Jada without seeing Parvati?

The connection that Ganga feels with Mahadev here is also not sacred. The picture shows Ganga carrying Lord Mahadev on a festival night. Ganga does a lot to prevent Mahadev from discovering her passion any further. They are also trying to kill Alli who is going to marry Mahadev. And even the newlyweds did not see a single hug scene between Ganga and Nakulan. Nakulan is also working in the bedroom. Ganga then asks. Nakuletan can sleep.

Isn’t that an invitation? But he refuses the invitation saying that he has work. Ganga then asks that Nakuletan should call me when he sleeps. This is also a clear invitation. Nakulan says then. He has a lot of work. A man who refuses every invitation from his wife in bed. I argued that Ganga naturally looked at Mahadev. Prasad Laxman took 650 rupees from me expecting it to get bad now. At that time the salary in Kerala Kaumudi itself was 500 rupees. After giving the wound dressing, there is hardly any food for two meals. Sajeevkumar TK used to take him home and feed him.

So I immediately jumped on the bandwagon. Then I went straight to Mavelikara. To see the honey egg. He and his mother were the only ones in the house. The mother went in at noon and gave me food and fried fish. Then I sent all the arguments to Madhumutta. He looked at me silently for a long time. Then he asked if he would write. I shook my head uncertainly. Then he pinched my hands and said, “Someone recognized me so badly. Happiness.”

I walked down without saying anything. On the way back, I didn’t get any seat in the bus. I didn’t know that. I was thinking of Madhu Mutta. The following week, this article was published in Vellinakshatra. Will Prasad Lakshni or Beena Ranjini who was there that day have that case? I don’t have it. (Part of it is now available online. Added here) If Vellinakshatra has a full file copy of it, they can reprint it now if they want. Wasn’t the movie re-released?

I never saw Madhu Mutta again. I don’t even know if he read that interview. Anyway, how beautifully he hid the story of the newlywed who was pregnant with the young man next door in that picture. Once when I interviewed Fasil sir for a local channel in Alappuzha, I asked if Suresh Gopi knew about this Akamporul. He smiled and shook his head that no one knew. Now watch Manichitra week again.
You can see the smile of the screenwriter and the director. Just laugh out loud.
