This Tuesday, May 30, hundreds of tourists and New Yorkers were able to witness a phenomenon that occurs twice a year: the Manhattanhenge. Armed with their camera, they could see the appearance of the sun aligning perfectly with the streets of New York oriented East-West like the 42nd which crosses Times Square.
This astronomical event, also called “Manhattan Solstice”, began as planned at 8 p.m. and ended a little before 8:30 p.m. It was precisely at 8:12 p.m. that the star of our solar system dressed in its orange color rose in the distance before disappearing, even stopping circulation, to capture this rare moment.
