This year Manhattan will welcome its first public beach, open to all and suitable for sunbathing, but not for taking a dip…
Hudson River Park Trust will build a 5 1/2 acre recreational park on the banks of the Hudson River.
It will be located in the West Village not far from the Whitney museum.
The park will include an athletic field to practice sports and designed for people of all ages to enjoy.
As well as a docking area for small boats and kayaks, which will feature trees, rocks and more, to “enhance the habitat.”
Juvenile oysters will also be installed in small aquatic structures to the north of the park to improve the river environment for the fish species that swim there.
People however will not be able to swim in the “Hudson River Beach”.
