Mangoes: import of biopesticides against the fruit fly

In the Council of Ministers of March 16, 2023, the government gave its discharge for the import and use of biopesticides to fight against fruit flies. This parasite caused production losses estimated at 400 billion FCFA during the 2020/2022 season

The mango sector generates more than 20 billion CFA francs in export earnings. “This decree grants a special exemption for the import and use of biopesticides in Burkina Faso to control fruit flies after conclusive trials in several countries in the sub-region. It is :

– 44,000 Magnet MED traps, amounting to one hundred and thirty-two

million (132,000,000) CFA francs, from Côte d’Ivoire;

– 880 TUBES of Splat Mat ME, worth forty-four million

(44,000,000) CFA francs, from Côte d’Ivoire;

– 55,000 Ceratinex traps, worth fifty-five million

(55 000 000) F CFA, from Mali. »

The Interprofessional Mango Association of Burkina Faso (APROMAB) is the beneficiary of this decree with a view to effectively combating fruit flies
