Manggarai residential fire allegedly caused by a cell phone charger

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —

Fire which hit the densely populated residential area on Jalan Pemuda 5, Kelurahan ManggaraiTebet District, South Jakarta is believed to be caused charger mobile phone (HP).

This is based on information from the local RT Chief. However, the head of South Jakarta’s Gulkarmat Service, Syamsul Huda, said that this information needs to be further investigated.

“According to information from Mr. Sukiman, Chairman RT 02 RW 06, information from charger-the mobile phone,” Huda said when confirmed, Tuesday (13/8).

Huda explained that the fire was first reported by residents to the fire department (damkar) over the phone at around 02.30 WIB.

So far, 35 fire trucks and 123 personnel have been sent to the scene.

Huda said extinguishment efforts began at around 02.44 WIB. Then, the fire​​​​ was successfully set at 06.30 WIB and the cooling process continued at around 06.57 WIB.

He could not confirm if there were any victims in the incident. Including, the question of how much loss there was and the residents who were affected by the fire.

“We haven’t collected the data yet,” he said.
