Aid for bills extended to March. Extra profits, 33% tax
Only the energy package absorbs most of the resources of the government’s first maneuver Melons: 21 billion euros to support households and businesses against high energy costs. But the Deputy Minister of Economy Maurizio Leo does not exclude another 5-7 billion recovered from unspent EU funds. Among the measures, the extension to the first quarter of 2023 of the discounts on bills already implemented by the Draghi government and the tax credits for businesses. The government also intends to increase the tax on the extra profits of energy companies from the current 25% to 33%, measuring the extra profit on the profit rather than on the turnover.
