Mandžukić waives his monthly salary for charity – Football – International

It is a gesture that deserves respect, made by Mario Mandžukić!

The Croatian international and current AC Milan striker delighted absolutely everyone. Mandžukić was sidelined last month due to a muscle injury that prevented him from playing. In fact, he hadn’t played a single game for the Italian powerhouse that month. For this reason, the 34-year-old World Cup silver medalist decided to donate all of the proceeds from March to charity, to the foundation of the association.

According to the Italian media, Mandžukić’s salary in Milan – one of the teams that joined the new European Super League – 300,000 euros, and at the request of the football player, the “Rossoneri” decided to donate the money to the “Fondazione Milan” foundation, which supports projects to help young people at risk – both socio-economic and educational .

“(It is) an incredible gesture that shows Mario Mandžukić’s ethics and professionalism as well as his respect for Milan. This means that the association has the opportunity to continue supporting the Milan Foundation’s projects that help disadvantaged youth wherever sport acts as an instrument for social inclusion “, said the club president Paolo Scaroni.

Mandžukić thus found his way into the headlines of the news of the world’s most famous media, who reported his gesture:

“Mario Mandžukić has waived his salary for March after not making a single appearance due to an injury. He has asked the club to donate his salary to the Milan Foundation instead,” wrote ESPN.

“Mario Mandžukić asked to donate his March salary to the Milan Foundation after he was not used last month due to an injury”, writes Goal.

We add here that many other professional footballers can easily afford to donate a portion of their monthly earnings to charity from time to time. Mandžukić’s salary at Milan is estimated at around 1.8 million euros for the half-season contract. Even if that’s a tidy sum, there are a few other football stars who earn significantly more: Lionel Messi earns € 112 million a year in Barcelona, Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus € 96 million and Neymar Jr. at PSG € 92 million.

Let’s not be unfair: some of the players mentioned, like Ronaldo, used to donate part of their earnings to a good cause. And why not, when you consider that the income of a Portuguese star comes not only from a contract with a club, but also from various sponsorship deals and brand ambassador agreements, e.g. from poker rooms (a game that is played in Online Casinos, but also very popular in most of the others).

Back to Mandžukić, he has only made five appearances for Milan since arriving in January due to a muscle injury. Most recently in the 2-2 draw against Red Star Belgrade as part of the UEFA Europa League on February 18.

The Croatian is in his second stop in Italy, having previously spent four seasons at Juventus, where he won Serie A and three times the Coppa Italia in all these seasons. He previously played for Bayern Munich in Germany, where he won the triple in 2013 (Bundesliga, DFB Cup and Champions League), and Atlético Madrid in Spain.

There has been talk for some time that Mandžukić will leave the team from the “fashion capital of the world”. He didn’t integrate into the team as expected and it seems that one Separation from him is inevitable.
