Mandatory vaccination to go to the Central Park concert

At a press conference, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio insisted that the city’s recovery depends on vaccinating citizens.

He pointed out that, if you want to avoid sanitary restrictions, the population must be vaccinated.

He announced that, as part of the Homecoming Week program, the Homecoming Concert will be held at the Gran Pradro in Central Park, on Saturday, August 21, and will be broadcast worldwide on television, as a symbol of the recovery of the Great Apple.

During his participation, the music producer Clive Davis revealed some of the names of the concert participants; among whom are: Andra Bocelli, LL Cool J, Elvis Costello, Jimmy Fallon, Jennifer Hudson, Barry Manilow, NY Philharmonic, Carlos Santana, Paul Simon and Bruce Springsteen, among others.

For his part, the regional president of the entertainment company Live Nation, Geoff Gordon, reported that tickets for the great concert in Central Park will be available to the public starting Monday, August 2 at 10am.

De Blasio indicated that 80% of the tickets will be free, but attendees must present proof of vaccination.

He explained that during the Homecoming Week celebrations, which run from August 14-22, several concerts will be held across all five boroughs:

  • The Bronx: Monday, August 16 at Orchard Beach
  • Staten Island: martes 17 agosto and Richmond County Bank Park
  • Brooklyn: Thursday, August 19 at Brooklyn Army Terminal
  • Queens: Friday, August 20 at Forest Hills Stadium
  • Manhattan: Saturday, August 21 at the Grand Prado in Central Park

She emphasized that Bronx Week continues to be held to provide her neighbors with an entertaining summer.

As for the new indicators used to measure progress in the fight against coronavirus, the most recent data showed:

  • Number of positive cases admitted to hospitals: 84 (19%)
  • Number of hospitalizations per 100,000 population, 7-day median (NYS): 0.56
  • COVID-19 reported cases, 7-day average: 901
  • Percentage of patients who tested positive, 7-day average: 2.37%
