The Legault government is postponing for 30 days, until November 15, the entry into force of the compulsory vaccination of employees of the health network.
The Minister of Health, Christian Dubé, made the announcement Wednesday at a press conference.
“We are going to run into the wall”
Some 22,000 health network employees would have been suspended as of Friday, if Quebec had gone ahead. This is in addition to a shortage already present in the network.
“If we continue like this, we will run into a wall,” said the minister. The risk is too high, he believes. “It would be irresponsible,” said Mr. Dubé.
Tested 3 times a week
As of Monday, unvaccinated public network employees in contact with patients will have to be tested at least three times a week. The measure could possibly apply to the private network later.
