“Mandatory vaccination against Covid-19” – Policy

We have just one weapon against the corona crisis: a vaccine. But now that vaccines will soon be available for free, it is outrageous that a large portion of our population does not want to know about them, says Trends editor Bert Lauwers.

Recent surveys show that only half of people definitely want to get vaccinated. That we are in the middle of the biggest health crisis in a century, which has already claimed more than 14,000 lives in our country, caused bankruptcies galore, brought sectors to the brink of collapse and our country will be left with traumatized young people and a huge mountain of debt leaving behind, still appears to be impossible for many.

In order to contain the crisis, at least 70 percent of the population must be vaccinated. Only in this way do we achieve the necessary group immunity. So it will be raking to get there, because the suspicion against vaccination is deep and is cranked by anti-vaxxers in plotdenkers.

Mandatory vaccination against covid-19.

Still, it can be solved easily: compulsory the vaccination against covid-19. Just as in our country the vaccine against polio is also mandatory. But our governments are choosing to recommend vaccination against Covid-19. We have seen earlier in this crisis how often recommendations to color within the corona lines are radically ignored.

But exceptional times require exceptional measures. An exemption policy for vaccine refusers could be such a measure. In other words, why would we still allow them to enter the cinemas or shows of Studio 100, or a performance by say Angèle or U2, or on a scheduled flight? Of course, that would be temporary, until the vaccines and herd immunity have done their job, and we can resume normal life. But until then, we shouldn’t have compassion with corona vaccine refusers.
