Mancuso from ex-paramilitary chief to ‘peace manager’ • La Nación

The head of state himself confirmed the news through a tweet in which he assured that the peace process between the Uribe government and the paramilitaries has not ended.

The president published verbatim, “The peace process between the Uribe government and the paramilitaries has not yet finished, the whole truth is not yet known, the haciendas delivered in part have been lost in the hands of the state, recycled to new groups that inherited the paramilitaries, many bodies of victims have not yet been found. In order to finish the process and achieve complete peace, I have decided to appoint Salvatore Mancuso as peace manager”.

This decision is made within the framework of the commemoration of the anniversary of the Ralito Pact, signed on July 23, 2001 at the farm of the paramilitary Salomón Feris Chadid, alias ’08’, in the township of Santa Fe de Ralito, in Tierralta, Córdoba.

It is worth remembering that in May, former paramilitary chief Salvatore Mancuso gave four days of statements at a hearing for the Recognition of Truth, which took place in Montería, before the Chamber for the Definition of Legal Situations of the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP).
