Manchester United’s Victor Nilsson Lindelöf Faces Uncertain Future Amidst Surgery and Contract Speculation

Victor Nilsson Lindelöf has been missing from Manchester United’s squad since the beginning of December.

This week, coach Erik ten Hag announced that the Swede had surgery and will be out until mid-January.

On Monday, Nilsson Lindelöf is again written about in the English press, but now it is about his future at the club. After the arrival of 71-year-old Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a series of changes await.

Both the Daily Mail and The Mirror write that “harder grip” waiting at Manchester United and names a total of seven players who have an uncertain future. That includes the Swede.

This summer, 29-year-old Nilsson Lindelöf’s contract with Manchester United expires. An option year is included in the agreement, but Ratcliffe is said not to want to use it. Thus, the Swede may leave as early as January if the club is to be able to get paid for him.

Points out multiple players that can be sacrificed

Other players who can be dumped are the prestige signing Antony, who cost the club over a billion kroner in the summer of 2022 when he came from Ajax. Brassen has not found the right place at Manchester United at all. The same applies to compatriot Casemiro, who according to reports has not impressed Ratcliffe.

Also Jadon Sancho, who quarreled with Erik ten Hag, and the flop signing Donny van de Beek are on the list of players named. Just like the French Anthony Martial and injured centre-back Raphael Varane.

Manchester United is eighth in the Premier League. On Boxing Day, they host this year’s sensational team Aston Villa at home at Old Trafford.
