Manchester United’s Nassir Mazraoui Undergoes Heart Surgery: Expected Return Timeline and Impact on Team

Paris (AFP)

Manchester United international defender Nassir Mazraoui underwent minor heart surgery and will be sidelined for a few weeks, the English club announced.
The 26-year-old Moroccan full-back, who joined the Red Devils this year from Bayern Munich in a deal initially valued at 15 million euros, underwent surgery after suffering from heart palpitations.
“This is a very common condition, and Naseer is expected to make a full recovery and be available to return to the team in the next few weeks,” United said in a statement.
Mazraoui was substituted a minute after the start of the second half of United’s goalless draw with Aston Villa last weekend, and was replaced by Swedish defender Victor Lindelof.
Mazraoui played under United’s current Dutch coach Erik ten Hag at Ajax, for whom he played between 2017 and 2022, and won three league titles with the Dutch club and another with Bayern Munich, whose shirt he wore between 2022 and 2024.
He signed a four-year deal with the option to extend for a further year, and his signature came on the day full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s departure to West Ham United was confirmed.
The right-back, who can also play as a left-back, took part in 29 matches with Morocco and reached the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup.
Mazraoui joined a long list of absentees from United’s 14th, as Harry Maguire was also injured against Aston Villa, and confirmed via social media that he would be out of action for several weeks.
