Manchester United face a mission against the impossible while hosting Bayern Munich. The ‘Red Devils’ need universal support to survive Liga Champions.
Manchester United will host Bayern Munich on Matchday 6 of the Champions League at Old Trafford, Wednesday (13/12/2023) early morning WIB. While Bayern are certain to qualify as group winners, MU depends on the results of this and other matches.
Occupying the bottom of the standings with four points, Bruno Fernandes et al must win over Bayern. MU also needs to hope that the Copenhagen vs Galatasaray match, where both have five points, ends in a draw.
Successfully silencing Bayern while one of Copenhagen or Galatasaray wins will mean MU finishes third. This scenario will lead MU to drop down to the Europa League.
MU Manager Erik ten Hag realize there is a big challenge. Moreover, his team is not in a good mood after the crushing 0-3 defeat to Bournemouth at Old Trafford last weekend.
He tries to build a positive outlook for his team.
“I never think in negative scenarios. We think positively,” Ten Hag was quoted as saying BBC.
“We have to win to stay in European competition, that’s all we think about. We have shown in the last few weeks that when we are at our best level, we can win,” added the bald manager.
