Manchester United’s dilemma for the next Champions League – ClaroSports

Manchester United could be left without European football | Reuters/Jason Cairnduff

Because of Nice! Manchester United could be excluded from European competitions next season. Jim Rattcliffe, an English businessman, is finalizing the details to acquire 25% of the Red Devils.

The Englishman owns Nice, so they would not be able to compete in Europe if the French finish the season in a higher position. Current UEFA regulations do not allow two teams with the same ownership to play in the same tournament.

The only situation that would allow both clubs to play continental competitions would be for one to qualify directly for the Champions League and the other for the Conference League.since there is no transition from one tournament to another.

Nice are currently second in Ligue 1, so they would receive preferential treatment if they maintain the position. If both finish in the same place in their respective leagues, the French would play in the Champions Leaguewhile the red and black would be limited to local competitions.
