Manchester United’s Champions League Exit: Erik ten Hag Reflects on Mostly Positive Adventure Despite European Elimination

Dec 13, 2023 at 8:33 AM Update: 24 minutes ago

Erik ten Hag looks back on the Champions League adventure with Manchester United with a mostly good feeling. The Dutch manager’s team was eliminated from Europe on Tuesday with a 0-1 defeat against Bayern Munich.

United should have won at Old Trafford to keep a view of European wintering, but that did not work out. Kingsley Coman scored the only goal twenty minutes before the end.

Although United only won one group match and finished fourth in the group behind Bayern, FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray, Ten Hag looks back on the Champions League adventure with a mostly good feeling.

“I don’t regret anything. We would of course have liked to continue in the Champions League, but we have to learn from this. We have shown good football at times,” said the former Ajax coach.

“Rasmus Højlund has scored five times and we have shown a very good side a few times. We have to take that into the competition. We want to play in the Champions League again next season.”

United’s performance in the Premier League varies. The club from Manchester is sixth after sixteen games. The pressure on Ten Hag has increased in recent weeks.
