Bruno Fernandes praised Manchester United’s fighting spirit as they won 1-0 in a closely fought match against Burnley.
United were causing problems throughout the game and a magical moment from Fernandes earned them a win over Burnley, snapping a three-game losing streak.
Captain Fernandes won the game at Turf Moor with a superb volley after receiving the ball from Jonny Evans.
Manchester United, led by coach Erik ten Haag, recently suffered back-to-back defeats against Brighton, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich, but finally achieved their third win of the season.
Fernandes told TNT Sports shortly after the final whistle:
“It was a tough situation for us, but we knew we could come back.”
He said.
“We have great players and a great mentality on our team. We were a little unlucky, but our performance wasn’t the best. “We showed great spirit today.”
Fernandes also acknowledged that, despite Manchester United’s encouraging performance, they struggled due to the threat of Burnley, who have continued their winless streak since returning to the top division.
“We sacrificed a lot because Burnley play great football and have great quality. It was really difficult to play against them. “I don’t think Burnley’s points show the quality they have.”
“I’m really happy to get the points and I hope we can use our strength in the remaining games.”
Fernandez also praised Evans, who returned to the starting lineup and helped the team record a clean sheet. Northern Ireland international defender Evans played the perfect pass for Bruno’s winning goal in his 200th game for Manchester United.

He said. “I know he has great quality to play the ball out from the back with both feet. “I knew he could make these passes and I was waiting for him.”
“The opponent gave us this space and held the line well, so it was difficult to get behind. It was a great pass. “I’m really happy to win.”
