Manchester United win 2-1 over Chelsea – Man Utd

Manchester United took all three points with a 2-1 win over Chelsea at Old Trafford in midweek thanks to two goals from midfielder Scott McTominay.

Both teams fought actively throughout the 90 minutes, but Manchester United clearly had the upper hand.

McTominay’s first goal was a reward for Manchester United’s strong pressure on Chelsea from the start. He put to rest any doubts about the team’s resolve. Bruno Fernandes’ penalty kick was saved by Robert Sanchez.

At the end of the first half, Cole Farmer tied the score with a shot that slipped past Andre Onana’s fingertips.

After the penalty kick was saved, both teams engaged in a defensive battle. Once again, McTominay broke the deadlock with a well-timed goal.

Manchester United applied most of the pressure after the opening goal, and the away team only advanced momentarily. In the 30th minute of the first half, Fernandez’s deep cross was connected to McTominay in the center, and McTominay’s quick shot was blocked by the Chelsea goalkeeper.

Just before the end of the first half, in a situation that went against the flow of the game, Palmer caught the ball outside the box, broke through the Manchester United defense and shot into the bottom corner of Onana’s goal.

Second Half – Manchester United Rewarded

Both teams entered the second half as energetic as the first half. Manchester United replaced Lindelof with Sergio Reguilon, while Chelsea replaced Mark Cucurella with Reece James.

Determined to continue his recent scoring momentum, Garnacho attempted a bicycle kick from a more difficult angle, but this time he crossed the goal line and smiled sadly as a winger.

With United ahead after the hour, Shaw’s shot was appealed for handball following a block by Colwill, but was adjudged to have collided with the defender’s thigh.

McTominay, who scored the first goal, appeared once again when United needed it. He deflected Garna’s cross at the back post.

Garnacho, who assisted the second goal, had a one-on-one chance blocked by James’ tackle.

In the end, McTominay’s two goals gave Manchester United the much-needed three points at Old Trafford.
