Manchester United will soon get Frenkie De Jong transfer target from Barcelona

Erik ten Hag is increasingly confident of getting his main transfer target this summer.

Manchester United will soon reach an agreement with Barcelona for top transfer target Frenkie de Jong, so GOAL understand.

There is a growing belief that an agreement will be reached for de Jong, with The Red Devils sure the Catalan giants want to sell the player.

A compromise fee of around £69m ($85m) in addition could be Erik ten Hag’s first signing of the summer, which will also ease the mounting pressure on chief executive Richard Arnold.

What is the status of de Jong’s transfer talks?

United are believed to have seen a £51m ($63m) bid for de Jong rejected, with Barca holding out for a figure close to £86m ($105m).

However, GOAL revealed this week that a compromise between £64-73m could see a deal struck between the two sides.

Further talks have taken place since then, with United becoming increasingly optimistic of de Jong.

While a deal has yet to be officially reached, sources close to the negotiations said talks were progressing.

Who else will United buy this summer?

The deal for De Jong paves the way for a number of transfers for United, who are looking to sign five players this summer.

United are holding back on completing other business until securing their top target in a bid to determine how much of the budget remains.

An offer has been made for a free transfer, Christian Eriksen, while talks have been held regarding a move for Antony, winger Ajax who want to reunite with the Ten Hag.
