Manchester United to Reform Player Contract Policy for Sporting Success: Sky Sports Reports

Manchester United has looked at Arsenal’s policies and will seek to translate them to prioritize sporting success in the institution.

Manchester United will reform its player contract policy to prioritize sporting success over financial success.

As reported by Sky Sports, Manchester United has taken notice of Arsenal’s policy, which had no problems terminating the contracts of players like Mesut Özil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolás Pepé when they were no longer so profitable sportingly; and they will try to transfer her to the club to avoid a repeat of situations like that of Jadon Sancho, who has been sidelined for months for indiscipline.

To do this, the “lucrative contract extensions” with which they have tried to protect players from being able to take advantage of the end of their agreements to leave the club for free will be put an end to. It will also end with one of the club’s traditional clauses, which always had an option to unilaterally renew a player’s contract for one more season.

The club believes that in this way it will be able to sell better and therefore have more purchasing power.

This new strategy will come hand in hand with the purchase of 25% of Manchester United by the INEOS group, led by billionaire Jim Ratcliffe, and which should be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Looking ahead to the next winter market, United does not expect to make additions, while the departure chapter may be more interesting, with players like Jadon Sancho with a foot and a half out, and others like Casemiro, injured since the beginning of October.

“There will always be scope for team deals, particularly when it comes to finding opportunities for players who are not playing as much as they would like,” John Murtough, Manchester United’s sporting director, said this week at a meeting with the team’s fans.

“However, we have always said that we do not see January as the optimal time to conduct business and our recruitment strategy focuses on the summer window. This season, financial fair play is very strict, so we have to “Be especially careful that we continue to comply. That means being disciplined when it comes to spending, with a balance between purchases and sales.”
