Manchester United striker Anthony returned to Britain from Brazil, to meet Manchester police as part of investigations into the allegations against him.
His former partner, Gabriela Cavallin, made allegations of physical attacks and mistreatment through Brazilian media, which Anthony denies, and more allegations of assault followed from two other women.
According to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), the young player (23 years old) agreed to hand over his phone to Manchester police to assist in the investigation.
Manchester United says it takes the allegations “very seriously”, and the club has placed Anthony on leave with full pay to deal with the allegations.
Anthony was in Brazil to participate in a match with his country’s national team, but was excluded when news emerged of allegations of assaults.
Cavalin claims that Anthony assaulted her more than once, which led to her injury, while the player said that the accusations were false and that he had evidence to prove his innocence.
