Istanbul –
Former player Manchester United, Fredensure that the Red Devils will recruit Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahce. Bayindir is reportedly finalizing the transfer.
The 25-year-old Turkish goalkeeper was redeemed by MU for 4.9 million euros (Rp. 80.7 billion). Bayindir has been at Carington since last weekend to undergo medical tests.
Even though they already have Andre Onana, MU does have to bring in another goalkeeper because Dean Henderson will soon be anchoring at Crystal Palace. Once Henderson’s move is complete, Bayindir will officially wear the Red Devils uniform.
Fred, who recently moved to Fenerbahce after spending five seasons with United, has confirmed Bayindir’s move to Old Trafford. Fred believes his teammate will feel at home with MU.
“I wish Altay good luck when he leaves. He will join a great team,” Fred said, quoted by top journalist Fabrizio Romano.
“Altay will be very happy at Manchester United,” added the Brazilian midfielder confirming Bayindir’s move.
Altay Bayindir will be the fifth player to be signed by MU in the market this summer. Previously, MU had hooked Mason Mount (center), Jonny Evans (back), Onana (goalkeeper), and Rasmus Hojlund (front).
Bayindir allows wearing uniforms Manchester United number 1. The goalkeeper’s traditional number was vacant after Onana chose to wear number 24.
Altay Bayindir has made nearly 150 appearances for Fenerbahce over four seasons. In 2022/23, Bayindir recorded a total of 14 clean sheets and conceded 45 goals in 40 matches in all competitions.
