With the wind in their sails after the late winning goal against Wolverhampton earlier this week, Manchester United took on West Ham at home to Old Trafford.
A match where Rasmus Højlund gave the home team the lead. The Danish striker, who has started with the goalscoring in the league, distinctly placed a lead goal. At the start of the second half, the lead was then extended by Alejandro Garnacho whose shot was deflected in and set up by goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.
Garnacho then made it 3–0 after a quick conversion at the end of the game. A goal that was the last of the match.
A nice win for United. But the potential sourness in the cup of joy was that key player Lisandro Martinez, who recently made a comeback from a long-term injury, was forced out. He was replaced by Raphael Varane.
In the 87th minute, Victor Nilsson Lindelöf was replaced and thus made a comeback. The Swedish national team captain has been out due to an injury since the beginning of December.
In another part of the country, Chelsea ran into another heavy mine. Away from home, Wolverhampton won 4–2.
The match between Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest ended 1–1. Anthony Elanga played 78 minutes for Forest.
