Manchester United Pays Last Respects to Franz Beckenbauer in Munich visit

The English football record champions Manchester United paid their last respects to the late Franz Beckenbauer during a visit to Munich.

On the occasion of a commemoration ceremony on the 66th anniversary of the Munich air disaster, in which eight players from the English club died, among others, a delegation from United placed floral wreaths at the emperor’s grave in the cemetery at Perlacher Forst.

“The relationship between FC Bayern and Manchester United is unique and a forever relationship. “They are two great clubs with personalities like Bobby Charlton and Franz Beckenbauer, who were role models for people all over the world, as sportsmen and off the pitch,” said Manchester club legend Mike Phelan. Beckenbauer, who died at the beginning of the year at the age of 78, “took the game to a new level.”
