After Manchester City’s victory in the FA Cup semi-finals in the clash against Chelsea (1-0), their Mancunian rival traveled to Wembley to face the surprising formation of Coventry City (D2). With a typical team lined up, Erik ten Hag, always challenged because of his choices and the poor dynamics of his team, wanted to have his best elements to consolidate his place on the bench and quickly reach the final.

In a meeting quickly dominated by the Mancuniens, McTominay, receiving a good cross from Dalot, could open the scoring (1-0, 23rd). A few moments later, Fernandes, in good form this Sunday, was able to hit a corner directly on Maguire’s head, to make the break (2-0, 45th). After the break, Fernandes scored the third goal (3-0, 58th) and the Mancunian supporters present at Wembley already saw themselves in the final.

Manchester United ruined everything
But as too often this season, the Red Devils gave up at the end of the match with the reduction of the score from Simms (3-1, 71st) and a goal from O’Hare to give hope to the Championship team ( 3-2, 79th). MU held on at the end of the match thanks to a decisive save from Onana (85th), but in the final moments of added time, Wan-Bissaka was penalized with a hand in the area and offered Coventry a penalty… transformed by Wright for an incredible comeback (3-3, 90th+5). Disappointed, Man United then had to play extra time, after leading 3-0 20 minutes from the end of the match. But here again, the Red Devils faltered in the finish with a cross hit by Fernandes (94th) and an attempt by Maguire narrowly missed (107th).

And behind, the Bantams believed in their dream, but Simms saw his shot crash onto the crossbar (117th). Coventry City even thought they had achieved the feat… but again, Torp was flagged offside by a millimeter (120th+1). On penalties to determine the outcome of a completely crazy match, Collins stopped Casemiro’s first delivery, but Onana responded by stopping O’Hare’s, before Hojlund gave the Red Devils victory. At the end of this crazy match, it will therefore be a Manchester Derby which will be played in the FA Cup final, on May 25 and at Wembley Stadium in London.
