Manchester United is poor in tactics, Cristiano Ronaldo is the culprit?

Former Netherlands star Danny Blind feels Manchester United are tactically poor at the hands of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and have “lost their orientation” since Cristiano Ronaldo’s return.

United have only won twice in their last six matches in all competitions this season.

Blind, who is the father of Daley, an ex-Red Devils player, highlighted that United only relied on individual brilliance instead of building a solid tactical foundation.

What does it say?

“What is the identity of this Manchester United team? What’s the plan?” Ask Blind to The Mirror.

“That’s what Solskjaer lacks.”

“There is no tactical plan. His team can’t put pressure on the opposing team like Manchester City.”

He added: “[Padahal] don’t have to put all the pressure on it, but we can’t see it one bit – everything that underlies this United team is just the individual qualities of the players.”

“They have quality and often it pays off. But it’s not the result of teamwork. [Mereka] hasn’t been good for a few games.”

“United struggle to dominate, that’s the problem.”

Ronaldo is the culprit?

According to Blind, Ronaldo’s arrival did not help the balance of the team at all, and demanded that Solskjaer adapt, saying: “It is impossible to change Cristiano’s way of thinking and approach.”

“For that Solskjaer must be able to create a style of play that allows Cristiano to shine while also allowing his team to press the opponent.”

“Indeed, Cristiano came home and scored important goals. But his presence in the team required a different tactical approach.”

“Normally, the striker is the first to chase the opposing defender, chasing from one defender to another.”

“But now [United] has lost its orientation. With Ronaldo up front, they are no longer in a confident structure.”

It is not time yet move on

Despite criticizing Solskjaer heavily, the assistant coach of the Dutch national team insisted that this was not the time for United to change coaches.

“Whatever you think about Solskjaer as manager, this is not the time yet [United] changed.”

“They are not too far behind in the Premier League. But they have lost more than you can imagine.”
