Manchester United, Football | Solskjær confirms that he has received an apology from the Manchester United owners

Ole Gunnar Solskjær says that he has been in contact with the club’s American owners.

The Manchester United manager met the press ahead of Thursday’s return match in the Europa League against Rome. There, the Norwegian confirmed that he has spoken to the club’s American owners after the chaotic demonstrations that ensured that Sunday’s big match against Liverpool was canceled.

– I have communicated with the owner. I’ve been given a personal apology. I know they have communicated with others than me. I have a good relationship. They listen to the supporters. They’re listening to me. I am sure that there will be better communication, says Solskjær at Wednesday’s press conference.

The Manchester United manager also says that the club must become better at communicating. He is also clear that Sunday was a difficult day for the club.

– We wanted to beat Liverpool for the fans. We have to listen to the voice of the fans. It is everyone’s right to protest, but it must be done in a civilized way. When a police officer is injured, it is a step too far, he continues.

Glazer was confronted on the street

Controversial Manchester United owner Avram Glazer was given the opportunity to apologize on Tuesday when Sky Sports met the controversial owner in Florida. The businessman was asked what he had to say to the club’s fans.

The Glazer family, who have owned United since 2005, are the main reason why Manchester United fans have been holding massive demonstrations recently.

Sky SportsUSA correspondent Sally Lockwood confronted Glazer. She asked balnt other about that “This is an opportunity to make an apology – maybe?”.

Glazer was further asked if it was time for him and his family to sell out of the Premier League club, since the club’s fans are only “customers for them”.

In a familiar style, however, Glazer refused to answer the reporter’s questions. He must have gone in to buy some goods and then driven away, without saying anything.

Big protests

The Glazer family, who have owned United since 2005, are the main reason why Manchester United fans have been holding massive demonstrations recently.

The protests peaked on Sunday ahead of the big match between Manchester United and Liverpool, which led to the settlement being finally postponed indefinitely.

This happened in the wake of United and five other Premier League clubs announcing that they would be part of the Super League, an elite league that was scrapped shortly afterwards, precisely because of massive protests from fans, players and coaches.

On Sunday afternoon, more than 200 supporters marched on Old Trafford where they demonstrated on the lawn against the club’s American owners.

The supporters were eventually led out of the stadium, before a new group of fans entered the field. This group of supporters must also have been accompanied out of the arena. The protests continued outside Old Trafford, but police eventually moved in and moved the crowd away from the stadium.

The demonstrations lasted for many hours on Sunday and just after 17.00 the police went into action to break up the crowd outside the stadium.

This resulted in an amp atmosphere between some supporters and the police.
